Data from Taiwan analyst, Witsview, quoted by Digitimes puts the LCD TV market at 53.1 million units, while the Q4 market is forecast to be 62.2 million units, an increase for the quarter, but down on an annual basis by 7.5%. Over the year, the market for LCD TVs will hit 216 million, down from an earlier forecast of 220 million – down 0.1% for the year.
Samsung is reported to have sold 10.9 million units, while LG was down 7% quarterly to 6.6 million, causing the brand’s share to have dropped from 14.5% to 12.4%. TCL of China got to 3.66 million, just ahead of Hisense. Sony was in fifth place with 2.73 million units, a year on year decline in volumes of 26.2%.
