Plans to launch an SVoD service in France to rival Netflix have been abandoned. Broadcasters TF1, M6 and France Télévisions had held discussions with telco Orange, with a plan to pool their individual SVoD offerings. Orange would have taken part in the project by providing its sales force and distribution capacity but “marketing acceptability tests” suggested that Orange was not in a position to achieve mid-term profitability from the scheme.
