Amsterdam will see the first World Masters of Projection Mapping competition, which will place between January 14th and February 9th 2018. The contest is a collaboration between the Amsterdam Light Festival, Integrated Systems Events and the RAI Amsterdam.
Artists will be tasked with creating a video art piece that will be mapped onto two 40 x 15 metre water screens in front of the Eye Filmmuseum, before the screens drop and the display is switched to project against the elaborate 3D architecture of the building itself.
Five finalists will have their work showcased on the penultimate day of the competition, where the ultimate winner will be decided. The winning piece, as well as those from all the finalists, will be shown again during the World Masters of Projection Mapping Awards Ceremony and Showcase on February 9th, after the annual Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) conference wraps at the RAI in Amsterdam.
