Fibre Helps Portuguese Pay-TV to Grow

The National Communications Authority (Anacom) reported that the number of pay-TV subscribers in Portugal rose 4.7% YoY to 3.6 million. The increase was partly due to the rise in fibre-optic users to 205,000 (25.7% of total subscribers). The largest group is still cable (37.5%), with xDSL (20.2%) and DTH/satellite (16.8%) making up the numbers.

Total turnover was up 9.2% to €895 million ($1 billion), with one fifth of users subscribing to premium channels.
