Evoca Broadcasts 4K Insight TV Via ATSC 3.0

What They Say

Evoca, a TV service provider, has set up a 24 hour OTA UltraHD broadcast system in Boise, Idaho. “We built Evoca for the more than 50 million U.S. households in mid-sized markets like Boise — where TV choices are limited and expensive,” said Evoca CEO Todd Achilles.

The rental of the firm’s box and access to the service costs $50 per month. The plan is to roll out to other markets in 2021. Evoca said that the box was designed in Boise.

What We Think

ATSC 3.0, like a lot of broadcast infrastructure, has taken time to get started, but a combination of this kind of terrestrial service combined with some streaming could provide a good alternative to traditional cable suppliers. (BR)
