Eizo Raises Professional Monitor Pixel Count

The newest addition to Eizo’s Flexscan series is the EV2730Q – an LCD monitor with an unusual size and resolution. The unit is 26.5″ with 1920 x 1920 resolution (1:1), providing 78% more pixels than 1920 x 1080 models. It is intended for use in professional applications such as CAD and programme development.

As an Ecoview model, the EV2730Q contains features to make prolonged use more comfortable. These include tilt (-5 deg to 35 deg ), swivel (344 deg ) and height adjustment (144mm), as well as a non-glare display. The screen is flicker-free and can be dimmed to 1% brightness (normally 300 cd/m²). One of five presets can be selected, including a low-blue-light Paper mode.

In addition to the above features, Eizo’s Ecoview Optimizer 2 reduces backlight brightness and increases gain when displaying mostly dark content. The monitor also features ambient brightness and presence sensors.

The EV2730Q has 178 deg viewing angles, 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 5ms (grey-to-grey) response time. It features DisplayPort, DVI-D, USB (x2) and USB-B connections, as well as two 1W speakers.

Eizo will begin selling the EV2730Q in Q1’15. Pricing has not been set yet.

We spotted this panel on LG Displays’ website recently and wondered who would be the first to bring it to market. Traditionally, square display were used in Air Traffic Control applications, where Eizo has a strong business, so this could be an application. (BR)
