DigiLED Has Two New LED Products

DigitLED had a big booth at ISE and two new products to show in it, along with existing products. One new product was the DigiThin chassis with a 1.5mm pitch, called DigiThin HD, which formed the main screen in the booth. The DigiThin chassis is only 52mm deep and can be mounted directly on to a wall. Each panel measures 500mm (w) x 281.25mm (h) providing a true 16:9 aspect ratio allowing all VESA standard resolutions to be achieved.

DigiThin is for indoor use only (IP43 front and rear) and comes in 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.6mm, 3.1mm & 3.9mm pixel pitches. The 1.5mm pitch is actually the new product, the other pitches were available previously. The brightness varies with pixel pitch but all of them are >1000 cd/m², or >900 cd/m² after calibration. The 3.1mm pitch unit is the brightest, with a brightness of >1500 cd/m² or >1300 cd/m² after calibration.

The DigiTile Q series is multi-purpose new product with a host of applications. It is not bound by the constraints of a traditional LED cabinet and can be used in seamless convex and concave curving displays, exploded (scatter) and mixed-resolution displays. It’s said to be a truly universal plug-and-play LED display system that has indoor and outdoor versions, with pixel pitches from 1.5mm to 10.4mm for the indoor version and 3.9mm to 15.6mm for the outdoor version. The outdoor version boasts brightness levels of over 7,000 cd/m².

Modules in the DigiTile Q line are all 250mm square. There is a menu-based approach when it comes to selecting components: configure your screen to the performance required, depending on your application – high-end driver ICs and scan cards can be specified for demanding environments such as TV studios, whereas a more cost-effective selection can be made for digital signage projects.

The DigiTile Q product line was introduced at ISE. An outdoor version of DigiTile was used in a side screen at ISE and was shown at only 1050 cd/m² or 15% of its 7000 cd/m² brightness. Orders under 100m² are filled from stock in the US, larger orders are shipped from the factory. While DigiLED is headquartered in the UK, not surprisingly the units are manufactured in China. –Matthew Brennesholtz
