Demon’s Souls looked ugly as sh** on my PS5 — I finally figured out why

What They Say

A journalist found that some settings on the new PlayStation 5 cause the image on the display to have much reduced contrast as the PS5 limits the dynamic range, apparently based on the HDMI settings, although this is not certain from the article. He found that when the image didn’t look good, there is a simple fix.

I went into my PS5’s Screen and Video settings menu and noticed my RGB Range was set to “Automatic (Recommended).” I changed this to “Full” and voila, it looked far better. There was no longer an obnoxious white rectangle pasted over my display and the color actually had depth.

The journalist suspected that the connection via a capture card that may have been providing the wrong data via HDMI to the PS5.
