Companies Look to UltraHD at Ceatec

Ceatec takes place in Chiba, Japan, from 7th – 11th October this year.

Mitsubishi will bring its laser-projection TVs to the show again this year. A prototype UltraHD model was displayed in 2013 (Display Monitor Vol 20 No 38) and launched this year (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 34). The finished model, the LS1, will be shown at Ceatec 2014. Also on the stand will be Mitsubishi’s human-machine interface – predicting actions drivers are likely to perform – and a range of outer space-based technologies.

Under the theme of ‘A Better Life, A Better World’, Panasonic will show its newest UltraHD products and the newly-revived Technics audio brand. As well as various high-resolution Viera TVs (40″ – 85″), a variety of UltraHD-capable Lumix camcorders and cameras will be on show. The Varicam35 is a camera/recorder designed for professional UltraHD shooting. The UltraHD Toughpad notebook will also be displayed

Panasonic will show prototypes alongside the existing products. These will include an RF/IP hybrid set-top box and a touchscreen display – both supporting UltraHD resolution.

We had hoped to get to this event, but didn’t manage it this year. It’s in the plan for 2015. (BR)
