Com Hem is looking to fibre to increase the popularity of its Boxer Digital Terrestrial Television service. Many customers churning from Boxer say they would have stayed if a fibre broadband service had been made available. The introduction of Boxer’s fibre offer is in line with the company’s strategy of moving from a TV-centric to a broadband operator. If there is a Boxer customer that has access to broadband over fibre, Boxer will offer its service over fibre.
Com Hem has 644,000 subscribers and has 38% of those with TiVo.
Anders Nilsson, CEO of Com Hem said that although it is not going to OTT immediately, it is moving to an ‘app-based approach’ and will eventually move to a ‘boxless’ model.
