Christie Shows Content Generation & Display

Christie was showing its Mystique Install technology which can use cameras to perform auto-calibration without the need for special test patterns. A new feature is Christie Guardian which is an ‘always on’, always running system that can compensate for problems in real time – for example if a projector is ‘bumped’ during a live event. There is also a new 3D mapping tool that rapidly can align multiple projectors.

Christie has also developed new tools for automated content generation for mapping applications as content creation can be a barrier to adoption. This was just an introduction and is built around the Christie Pandora’s Box controller.

Christie has been a strong support of SDVoE and told us that it is looking to integrate the technology across the range of products that it has and also told us that almost the whole of its booth is running via SDVoE, rather than other video interfaces. As well as adding interfaces to its products, it has the Terra range of controllers.

In projection, there were six single chip DLP new projectors although the 7-HS and 10-HS were shown at ISE. (Christie Shows New Projectors and LED Videowalls). The other four are the D20WU-HS/D20HD-HS which have 20,000 lumens of output and the D16WU-HS/D16HD-HS which can produce 16,000 lumens and which can each run from a single 15A 110V supply. Resolutions are 1920 x 1200 on the WU versions and 1920 x 1080 for the HD versions. The projectors use 0.96″ DMDs with RGBY colour wheels. The projectors have a range of lenses and accessories for rental and staging. Staff told us that in the future, Terra SDVoE interfaces will be integrated into this kind of projector.

Finally, we looked at the Apex LED products and the CorePlus series which is available from 1.2mm to 4.0mm pitch in 8:9 cabinets and which Christie describes as offering ‘high value’. The Velvet Apex series in 0.9mm pitch was also being shown. (Christie Tries to Separate from the Herd with New Apex 0.9mm LED Video Wall)
