Can FMMs be Made by Electroforming?

A group at the New Material Engineering Department of Sunchon University in Korea, led by Professor Park Yong-Bum, has published a paper describing a new method of electroforming invar material (in comparison to rolling methods previously used). The technique allows the manufacture of thinner fine metal masks (FMMs) than those currently supplied. The thickness is said to be 7μm (said to be half of current materials made by rolling).

The thickness of the FMM sets a limit on the size of the dots on RGB OLEDs, so making thinner FMMs should allow OLEDs to be made with higher ppi counts. (BR)
