Cable Rises Despite Competition

Speaking at the 2015 Cable Congress in Brussels, Caroline van Weede – MD of Cable Europe – has said that the cable TV industry is “alive and kicking”, despite increased competition from both traditional and new platforms, such as satellite and IPTV. Over the past year, the industry has generated an additional €1 billion in revenues in Europe, to a total of €21.51 billion (4.6% growth), according to IHS. There were 55.9 million total cable TV subscribers in 2014, or which 57.8% are digital.
