Anatel, the Brazilian communications regulator, has opened a tender to provide mobile broadband services in the 700MHz band. The frequency is currently used for broadcast services. In response the Association of Brazilian broadcasters (Abert) issued a statement of concerns. Abert said that Anatel’s plan to set aside BRL3.6 billion ($1.6 billion) to cover broadcasters’ costs was insufficient.
