Blackberry has said that it will get out of design and manufacture of hardware (BlackBerry To Drop Smartphone Design and Build) and has now introduced a smartphone that is made by TCL. The DTEK60 has a 5.5″ AMOLED with 2560 x 1440 and based on a Snapdragon 820 with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, expandable to 2 TB via a microSD slot. Connection is via USB Type-C and the device has a traditional 3.5mm jack. The rear camera has 21 megapixels and the front has 8 megapixels and the rear camera has phase detection auto focus. The battery is rated at 3,000mAH and is claimed to be good enough for 24 hour usage.
Blackberry highlighted the security features of the phone, including a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone ‘where the index finger naturally falls’. It is available immediately.
