AOC’s new ‘myConnect’ monitor is a 17.3″ model targeting users of portable PCs such as netbooks. Like last year’s E1659FWU (Display Monitor Vol 20 No 32), it is designed to enable these workers to benefit from a larger screen that can still be carried around; it weighs less than 1.3kg and is 18mm thick. A protective sleeve is supplied for carriage.
The E1759FWU uses USB 3.0 to link to a portable PC, which handles both data and power transfer – the unit consumes 10W. The monitor’s stand can be rotated to share data, or the display itself can tilt (28.5 deg to 31.5 deg ) and pivot (90 deg ).
A TN panel with 1600 x 900 resolution is used. The panel provides a 650:1 contrast ratio; 10ms response time; and 90 deg / 50 deg viewing angles. Brightness is 220 cd/m
