Invidis reported that LG is introducing a new complete kiosk system for restaurants. The 27″ 27KC3J touchscreen unit (bigger than many competitors) will initially be launched in the Korean market and later released in Europe and North America probably by the end of the year. The system is built around Windows IoT (with the and the unit has LGD’s Advanced In-Cell Touch (AIT). Optional features include keyboards and NFC payment.
An article reported the global kiosk market as being expected to grow 93% from 2020 ($17.6 billion) to 2027 ($34 billion) according to a Korea International Trade Association report last year. The self-ordering kiosk system market will grow faster than others, with an average annual growth rate of 12.2 percent.
Kioskindustry.org speculated that LG might be aiming at Mcdonalds which uses five different suppliers for its kiosks.
