Colorlight is not an LED screen maker. Instead it is a solutions provider for LED display control systems. They claim to have more than 100,000 customers using Colorlight products to control more than 1,000,000 screens. They were using SiliconCore and LP Displays screens in their booth to demonstrate their products. The new controller they were featuring at ISE they call the “Colorlight Z6 Super Controller,” subtitled “for [the] REAL 4K experience we have been waiting for.” Modest, aren’t they?
They say the Z6 Super Controller (AKA Z6 Max) is a professional LED display controller that is a video splicer, processor and sender in one combined unit. The Z6 max has 4K video input capability as well as UHD and HDR image processing and transmission. The Z6 Max can be applied to both high-end rental displays and high resolution LED displays. Video inputs to the Z6 Max are via optional plug-in boards which include HDMI2.0 + Loop, DVI x 4, 3G-SDI x 4 and DisplayPort 1.2 x 1. Up to four boards will fit in the chassis at a time. All inputs are HDCP 2.2 capable. Output is over 10Gbit Fiber x 4. The unit is HDR capable and is said to have ultra-low latency.
According to Colorlight, to make a 4K display, you need one Z6 Max and to create 10K images, you can link together three Z6 Maxes. –Matthew Brennesholtz
