Travel the World with Wellington Airport’s New VR Booth

Commuters passing through New Zealand’s Wellington Airport can now travel to Singapore via virtual reality technology, using a new VR booth built by Singapore Airlines in collaboration with local VR/AR specialist, Wrestler.

The immersive visual experience starts at Wellington Airport and takes visitors on a journey to Singapore’s Changi Airport, before heading to either Thailand, London, or elsewhere in Singapore. During the experience, users can take part in a variety of cultural pastimes, including sending paper lanterns into the sky in Phuket, playing drums at the changing of the palace guard in London, or butterfly catching in Singapore’s Garden by the Bay.

Wellington-based software start-up DreamFlux teamed up with Wrestler on the experience, which combines 3D objects with a 360° video of world destinations.
