Tech Data is to acquire the Technology Solutions business of Avnet for $2.6 billion. The division specialises in datacentre solutions. Distribution specialists have said that the move will help Tech Data to develop its business on a more global basis. Alastair Edwards, chief analyst at Canalys told CRN that Tech Data and Avnet are the two major disties who are able to deliver true, deep enterprise solutions capability in the datacentre.
Analyst Comment
This continues the global consolidation of distribution channels. Of course, Avnet has not been as involved in the display market in EMEA since it sold back the Eizo distribution business to the Japanese company in 2012. (BR)
