Grundig used IFA to unveil its first OLED TV – and it looked great. The VLO 0790 SP is a 65” product with UHD resolution using a panel from LG Display. Grundig TVs are produced by Turkey-based Arçelik, but they are also sold to other brand names as well.
The panel is equally impressive with its ultra-thin design – only 5.97 mm. However, the company was unable to provide any other technical specifications like specific HDR support (assume HDR10), peak luminance (assume 540 cd/m²), color gamut (assume >90 DCI-P3) or black level. Interestingly, the panel comes with LG’s 3D film technology so it does support stereoscopic 3D display. We asked Grundig if there was much interest in this feature at IFA. The answer – one person had asked.
It is an Android-based TV with speakers facing forward, backward and downward with 60W of power behind them. It also incorporates Smart inter@ctive TV 4.0 Plus, enabling access to online services and libraries.
The Grundig 65VLO 9790 and will be available in Europe in November for €6000.
Grundig also released the VLX 8688 A, a slim Android LCD TV in a 55” screen size and UHD resolution. The Immensa Android TV model GUB 8688 A is a related design offered in 40”, 49” and 55” screen sizes. Also new is the FineArts MR 4000, which is Grudig’s docking system. – CC
