V-Nova has launched its Perseus compression technology (V-Nova’s Perseus Lowers UltraHD Bandwidth Requirements) as an SDK. With this move, Perseus can be built into third-party encoders and video players. Perseus can be deployed on existing ecosystems for the delivery of Full HD video – UltraHD is not mentioned.
The SDK is available as an encoder or decoder plug-in (EPI/DPI). These are supported on multiple different platforms, including Intel’s x86 encoders and iOS/Android consumer devices. Pre-integrated encoding/decoding combinations are also available through industry partners, to speed time-to-market.
The company has also announced a new partner programme that is being joined by:
- United Kingdom – TechEx, UK
- France – Metracom
- Spain – MoMe
- Italy – Communication Video Engineering (CVE)
- Benelux – Divitel
- Finland – MediaTrade
- Middle East – CVE
Under the programme, V-Nova’s contribution compression technology will be made available through national partners. V-Nova said that its technology was used in the recent ‘first ever’ Ultra HD transmission of the “El Clásico” match between Real Madrid and Barcelona.
