In the middle of the (very European) long lunch break, Lang offered tours of its new buildings. The company has been on the Lindlar industrial estate since 1998, and in the beginning the founder’s mother thought that the single building would be too big! Times have definitely changed. Lang now has a whole building dedicated purely to LED products, for example, with three floors of storage and one for checking, repair and maintenance.
The Lang Forum is next to the new LED building. Here, all of Lang’s product managers have been brought together under one roof in the hope of fostering creativity. However, it is not just a ‘blue sky’ building. There is a clean room for removing visible defects from products, a dark room to calibrate LEDs and a projector comparison room. Here, Lang was testing two Panasonic projectors: one 1920 x 1080 and one UltraHD (the RQ13K), which Lang will soon add to its rental fleet.
On the top floor, Lang had a large open office area and collaborative meeting room, set in a sunken floor space. Near to this was a new interactive LFD that will be at ISE: it uses optical touch, with the cameras located behind the screen. Because of this, the display is flush with the bezel.
Finally, part of the top floor is taken by a meeting room, which can seat 30 people – complete with large screen and Barco’s Clickshare.
