Virgin celebrated its partnership with Microsoft before Christmas in a very special way. Passengers on flight VS11 from Heathrow to Boston were each presented with a Windows tablet and a visit from Father Christmas himself. A special app (‘Festive Flight’) allowed passengers to access a Santa Tracker as St Nick went on a ‘trial run’, and talk to him when he drew close to the plane. A ‘Santa Cam’ section was used to show images of Father Christmas taken from cameras mounted outside the aircraft. Finally, Santa himself dropped in to say hello, before members of the Microsoft team – armed with wireless Philips projectors – made sections of the ceiling disappear as he waved goodbye to the children and adults onboard.
