According to research from Leichtman Research Group (LRG), currently 82% of US households are subscribing to a pay-TV service, back to 2005 levels and down from 87% in 2011. 2.6% of households have subscribed in the past year but currently do not. 1% of current subscribers are new to pay-TV. In the next six months 6% of subscribers say that they are likely to stop the service and 12% say that they will change provider.
6% of TV households have never subscribed to pay-TV, while another 6% subscribed over 3 years ago and 3% last subscribed between one and three years ago.
