Nintendo has celebrated its 125th anniversary. From humble beginnings creating ‘Hanafuda’ playing cards in Kyoto in 1889, the company took 70 years to introduce the videogames that it is known for today. Arcade machines began to be exported to Europe and the USA in the 1970s, and the famous Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) console was introduced in the next decade: 1985, to be precise. Videogames and consoles remain Nintendo’s core business today.
