YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has announced that its paid subscription service, YouTube Red, will roll out to a hundred more countries this year. Wojcicki also described Red as “really a music service” alluding to the rumoured merger of YouTube Red and Google Play Music. The company plans to expand YouTube Red’s music offerings, having agreed several new licensing deals.
YouTube is also planning more original shows for its ad-free Red service, including drama and other genres, despite its renewed focus on music.
