Xiaomi Technology is planning an event on 28th February to unveil two chips from its Pinecone business (Xiaomi to Use In House CPU), and believed to be the V670 octacore processor with all based on Cortex-A53 cores, but with four running at high clock speed and four running at low speed. It is expected to have an Arm Mali-T860 MP2 GPU and be made using a 28nm process. Later in the year, the company will launch a V970, which will have four A-73 cores, four A-53 cores and a Mali G71 MP12 GPU.
There are suggestions that Samsung may make the V970 using a 10nm process, which should put performance up to a high level, competitive with leading application processors.
Xiaomi is expected also to announce an entry level smartphone with a 5.5″ display and 8/13MP cameras
