What They Say
A couple of weeks ago, Viture announced that it had partnered with Harman and Layer to make some new glasses that are available with an optional neckband that includes directional speakers. The glasses include a 1080P virtual screen (per eye) equivalent to a 120″ display viewed at 3m and based on a microOLED.
The glasses are said to include an adjustable electrochromic film (5%-80% transmittance) and are USB-C compatible. Output of the displays is 1,800 cd/m² and FOV is 43°. They weigh 78g and battery life is 3-5 hours.
The glasses are designed to support game play on PlayStation, XBox or PCs.
There are a range of pre-order packages available from $479 for use with Android phones up to $677. They are expected to ship in December 2022.
What We Think
The video I found on YouTube said that the glasses can connect to a console at home via 5G to allow play on the glasses. These are just viewing glasses, with no cameras or SLAM, but there should be a market for this kind of device if it is well executed and Viture seems to be in the right area., For 120″ equivalent, I would want UltraHD, but that’s just a matter of time.
(apologies for the delay on this one – I have been housekeeping this week and keep finding bits and pieces|) BR)
