Verizon Trials the SES UHD Service

SES and Verizon have announced a collaborative agreement aimed at driving the development of UHD delivery solutions for Verizon Fios subscribers throughout the US.

Verizon, plus others, are trialling SES satellite-based UHD. Verizon will receive and test content from SES’s pre-packaged UHD platform, during the trials. SES provides a line-up of UHD channels and reception equipment delivered over satellite capacity.

SES stated that the service offers nine linear UHD channels plus the largest range of UHD programming available in North America.

Steve Corda, VP of business development at SES, stated that with more than 4.5 million video subscribers, Verizon Fios represents an exciting addition to SES’s overall effort aimed at making UHD faster to market for TV services providers across the region.
