UK Brand Gets OLED TV Down to sub £1,000

electriQ of the UK has a new 55″ OLED TV that is the cheapest on the market at its list price of £1,318, but was being advertised at £999.97 ($1,129 + tax) when we went to press, a very low price indeed and around 30% cheaper than we have seen any other OLED TV.

The TV has ‘smarts’ but runs standard Android 6.0, not the Android TV platform. It has three HDMI V2.0 ports and supports HDT10.

Analyst Comment

Given that LG is trying to position OLED as the premium display technology, supplying someone selling at this very low price is surprise. I once bought a battery from this brand and never got a response to a support question, so I can’t say I’m a fan. The experience with Android 6.0 is not likely to be very good. However, if you just want an OLED to run via HDMI, it’s a very good deal. (BR)
