The U.S. Department of Education is launching EdSim Challenge, a competition to design educational simulations in virtual and augmented reality with a cash prize pool of $680,000 and additional sponsor prizes from IBM, Microsoft, Oculus, and Samsung. There will be a main prize of $430,000 and five prizes of $50,000. Finalists will also receive mentoring.
The Challenge calls upon the virtual reality, video game developer, and educational technology communities to submit concepts for immersive simulations that will prepare students for the globally competitive workforce of the 21st century.
There will be a webinar on 16th November and submissions need to be in by 17th January.
