TUV Rheinland (Greater China) has granted its Low Blue Light certification to Acer’s monitors – the first company to receive the accreditation worldwide. Blue light filters are used on the B6 and V6 professional models, as well the K2 consumer series.
TUV’s Low Blue Light certificate is based on its 2PfG testing standard. A display’s blue light intensity, wavelength and on-screen flickering during brightness changes are measured. TUV’s tests aim to balance the reduction in blue light – which can cause macular degeneration and suppress melatonin production – with colour intensity (low blue light can make colours less vivid).
Displays must be tested using internationally-recognised measurement procedures to qualify for the TUV’s Low Blue Light Content mark. A device that passes the test has exhibited low blue light properties under a special or default mode.
