TrinamiX Gets Certification for Infrared Face Detection Under OLEDs

What They Say

MobileIDWorld reported that TrinamiX of Germany, a developer of under the camera IR facial recognition systems (and part of BASF), reported that its under-display cameras have been certified by the Android Biometric Security Test and the FIDO Alliance’s Biometric Component Certification Program. The tests were done from behind an OLED display. The system is reported to be the first to hav achieved that.

The technology consists of a camera, a dot projector, and a flood illuminator, and comes with a skin detection system that can distinguish human skin from other materials (such as those that might be used in a mask) to provide an extra degree of passive liveness detection.

What We Think

We’ve highlighted the challenges in this application for recognition because of the infrared in particular. (OTI Highlights the Challenge for Under-Display Cameras) Achieving certification is no mean feat. (BR)
