We have seen reports in the Taiwanese press based on un-named ‘sources in the supply chain’ that Samsung Display will be the only supplier for AMOLEDs for Apple’s adoption of the technology. It identifies 4.7″, 5.5″ and 5.8″ as the sizes with the 5.8″ having an OLED display. It also identifies that Nissha Printing will supply touch sensors. The report said that production would start in March, with volume ramping up in May and June.
Separately, the Economic Daily News reported that Wistron will be added to Foxconn and Pegatron as a maker iPhones.

Samsung as the only supplier of AMOLEDs would not be a real surprise, except that sole supply is always a risk. The negotiations about who gets what in the case of fewer displays being available than desired between Apple and Samsung’s own phone business must have been interesting! (BR)
