Toshiba TV Launches Flagship XL9C Series of OLED TVs for Europe

Toshiba TV has announced the launch of its flagship XL9C series of OLED 4K HDR Smart TVs. Levelling up the home entertainment experience for everyone from home cinema enthusiasts to avid gamers, the 55-inch and 65-inch XL9C OLED TVs come with the perfect combination of cutting-edge features. As well as offering cinematic picture quality, superb motion-handling, and ultra-responsive 4K gaming with Game mode, the TVs deliver an immersive audio performance, straight out of the box.

OLED HDR picture experience

For captivating, life-like imagery that pops on screen, the series brings with it all the benefits of class-leading OLED panel technology. With self-emissive pixels and an extra wide colour gamut, both TVs deliver exceptional colour vibrancy, as well as deeper blacks, and a striking near-infinite contrast ratio that adds definition to the on-screen picture.

Faithfully capturing every scene as the film director or content creator intended, the series also offers a striking, bright, and detailed HDR performance with Dolby Vision and HDR10+.

At the same time, action-loving thrill seekers, sports fans and gamers can count on the series to keep up with the most high-speed scenes. The TVs’ ultra-fast refresh rate of 100Hz/120Hz brings adrenaline-filled plots to life with smoother flowing and more natural-looking visuals.

When the Game mode is enabled, gamers can also count on an extra competitive advantage. Powered by a frame rate converter, it offers a 100FPS/120FPS gaming experience, supporting faster response times and keeping your screen stutter-free – even for lower frame rate games. Thanks to the TVs’ 4K resolution, the fastest racing and shooting action looks and feels more immersive, with additional detail, depth and colour vibrancy.

What’s more, it is easier to jump into the gaming action, as Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), as specified in HDMI 2.1, automatically switches to the lowest latency setting as soon as a signal is detected from a games console.

Immersive audio experience with DTS Virtual:X and Dolby Atmos

Whether for games, sports, movies, or general viewing, the audio performance will add to the on-screen realism. Powered by DTS Virtual:X, the integrated Onkyo fine-tuned speakers deliver immersive sound above, beside and behind you, straight from the TVs.

For yet more audio support, the integration of Dolby Atmos offers a multi-dimensional sound experience that can go beyond traditional left and right channels.

And with the Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC), viewers can connect the TVs to any external sound system and then control it using the remote.

Toshiba TV TRU Picture Engine

Thanks to Toshiba TV’s TRU Picture Engine and its three image technologies – TRU Resolution, TRU Micro Dimming and TRU Flow, you can enjoy an impressive picture performance for any non-4K SDR content. While TRU Resolution upscales non-4K content, TRU Micro Dimming enhances the dynamic contrast performance.

TRU Flow also works to optimise the TVs’ motion handling, using Motion Estimation/Motion Compensation (ME/MC) technology.

Toshiba TV Smart system

Opening up a whole world of entertainment, the Linux-based Toshiba TV Smart system is packed with streaming on demand and catch-up TV apps, connecting you to everything from Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube to Twitch, Red Bull TV and Amazon Music.

Whatever you decide to watch, you can count on convenient hands-free voice control. The series works with Ok Google, enabling you to connect the XL9C model to a Google Assistant, so you can control the TV with your voice.

As a Works with Alexa series, the XL9C TV can also be connected to an Amazon Alexa-enabled speaker for similar voice control support.

Design

Designed with a stylish, minimalist, wafer-thin build and extra-wide viewing angles, the series provides a near edge-to-edge viewing experience from any seat in the room. Seamlessly fitting into every space, the TVs can either be wall-mounted or set on top of a furniture unit. Either way, as OLED TVs, they are safer for your eyes, thanks to their low blue light emission.

“We’re excited to launch this flagship OLED TV series”, said Bar?? Alt?nkaya, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management for Toshiba TV, Europe. “At the centre of the home entertainment experience, TVs are now being used for so much more than everyday TV viewing, which is why, with this range, we have built on and diversified the high-quality support on offer.

“Whether it is to step up your cinema at home experience, enjoy ultra-responsive and immersive gaming, or capture the atmosphere of a live sporting event in your living room, this series has something to keep everyone entertained. Whatever your choice of content, you can now bring it to life on the big screen, with exquisite OLED 4K picture quality, smoother motion handling and a more life-like audio performance.”
