What They Say
The stand-alone Oculus Quest 2 (Oculus Quest 2 revealed, killing off future Oculus PC VR gear in the process)has been getting a generally favourable press, but that will be improved, we suspect as the headsets have been updated to support 90Hz operation by a firmware update. The original Quest supported 72Hz and the Quest 2 was limited in the parts of the system that would run at the higher rate. Since the update, the refresh rate is supported, provided that the app can run at that rate.
What We Think
At the consumer level, it looks as though standalone sets are going to be the way to go. However, in B2B, I suspect that being able to update the processor separately will always be compelling. (BR)
