Telcos to take >50% of WE and Latam Pay TV

Analyst, Ovum, has put out a couple of reports recently. In one, quoted by Digital TV Europe, the conclusion is that telcos will control half of all pay TV in Western Europe and Latin America within five years and it sees the mechanism for this as being the expansion of IPTV services. The website quotes a level of 310.9 million pay TV subscriptions globally by 2021.

Separately informitv.com reports data from the firm that includes a forecast for Netflix. The firm expects Netflix to remain the dominant supplier until 2022, with the US around half of the global customer base. New services such as Netflix and Amazon have a share of 63% and Ovum expects this kind of share to continue.
