TCL is reported to be considering expanding its presence into more overseas markets, such as Brazil and India, to offset disappointing sales in China. For the January to April period of this year, TCL achieved only 0.43% year on year growth in TV sales in its home market.
Market observers believe that LCD TV sales in China were 13% higher year on year in the first quarter of the year, though competition between the six major Chinese vendors is intensifying, leading to limited growth for some vendors. Reports suggest that other manufacturers have also been looking to emerging markets; Skyworth has been focusing on Thailand and Indonesia, while Konka has also been looking at Brazil.
