STMicroelectronics has created a set-top box platform using Android TV, based on Android 5.0. The company says that it is the first such product in the world. The platform, based on STM’s STiH412, features multi-decode HEVC; picture-in-picture support; an SoC architecture with offload processors, supporting 368 UIs and UltraHD decoding; transcode capability to send content to second screens; and a VP8 encoder.
