Spanish Subscribers Rise, Revenues Fall

Spanish regulator CNMC says that the country’s pay-TV market is gaining subscribers but losing revenue. The number of customers was up 23.32% in Q3’14, to 4.76 million, but revenues were down almost 7%, to €401.3 million. IPTV was responsible for the majority of the growth, representing 369,000 of the 399,000 new subscribers. Total TV revenues in Q3 were €772 million: €340.8 million from free-to-air TV and €431.4 million from pay-TV. DTT led, followed by satellite.
