Sony has updated the firmware on its 2015 and 2016 TVs (excluding the Z9D/ZD9 models) that adds an HDR mode that is intended to improve support for game play on the sets, by reducing the input lag when HDR content is displayed. TVs that will work with the Game preset: X85C, S85C, X91C, X90C, X93C, X94C, S850D (SD85 in Europe), X850D (XD85 in Europe), X940D (XD94 in Europe) and X930D (XD93 in Europe).
Sony said that the update improves visual quality by reducing juddering when the sets are connected to UHD STBs after the TV was switched on from standby-mode. Up to now, Sony had been recommending some work-arounds.
The update is also said to have improved the stability of the Android TVs and was made available on 7th November.
