Sony has released four new D-series projectors to replace current models.
The new VPL-DX221, VPL-DX241, VPL-DX271 and VPL-DW241 models are based on 3LCD technology with a 215W UHP lamp. Full screen contrast is 4,000:1 and lamp life is 3000 to 10000 hours depending on the brightness mode. Features include VGA and dual HDMI Inputs as well as composite video. They have a single 1W speaker.

The new D-series models will be available to purchase from September 2017. The VPL-DX220, VPL-DX240, VPL-DX270, VPL-DW240 will be discontinued.
