Italy’s SIM2 entered into a collaboration with OV-LaserTec of China, to produce a compact pure RGB laser projector. The unit, which is still under development, is a bright red model with 1920 x 1080 resolution.
Based on SIM2’s Alphapath platform, the new projector is a 3DLP unit using OV-LaserTec’s despeckle technology. Light output can vary between 3,000 and 20,000 lumens, with a wide colour gamut.
SIM2 and OV-LaserTec hope to have the projector ready for the market by the time of Cedia in October. While there are no firm details on price, rumours put it at around $90,000.
