Sharp US has now started shipping the 80″ LC-80LE661U Smart TV that was announced at the beginning of June (Sharp Introduces New Line Of Commercial AQUOS™ LED Smart TVs). The product uses an edge-lit LED backlight and includes RS-232C control for professional AV applications. The set has 1920 x 1080 FullHD resolution but just 300 cd/m² brightness and contrast of 5,000:1 (dynamic contrast is also supported). Response time is quoted at 4ms (grey to grey).
Inputs are HDMI (3) and VGA as well as composite and component video. There is an ethernet port and integrated Wi-Fi for “smart” apps. Power consumption is 320W and weight is 112lbs (50.8 Kg).
The LC-70LE661U and LC-60LE661U are the 70″ and 60″ equivalents, which share the same electrical and optical features and specifications.
Pricing for the 80″ is $4,299.
