Sega Sammy to quit game arcade business in Japan

In digging around about The Void, the VR-based arcade firm, we spotted that a couple of weeks ago, the Japan Times reported that Sega Sammy Holdings will sell up its arcade games business and will sell an 85.1% stake to Genda Inc, described as an arcade game rental company. Genda will take over about 200 game arcades that Sega Entertainment runs across the country.

What We Think

It’s no surprise to see re-structuring and re-alignment of the entertainment business in probably the most disastrous year in its history. (BR)
