Sphere Entertainment has launched Sphere Studios, a Burbank-based facility specializing in producing immersive content. At the heart of this facility is an ultra-high-resolution camera system, Big Sky, and a quarter-sized replica of the MSG Sphere’s state-of-the-art LED screen. The MSG Sphere boasts a 160,000 square foot 16K LED display indoors, the world’s highest resolution display according to the developers, and will have LEDs wrap around the 580,000 square foot exterior. The Big Sky camera system, developed in-house at Sphere Studios, is designed to capture a higher degree of detail than previous systems.
Entertainment industry publication, Deadline, is reporting Sphere Studio will span 68,000 square feet and offers facilities ranging from production and post-production to sound stages and 3D printing labs. Additionally, the Big Dome, a 28,000-square-foot geodesic dome, serves as a screening, production facility and content laboratory.
