It was widely leaked, but now Samsung has now released details of the Odyssey mixed reality headset that will be used on Windows 10 PCs. The headset will sell for $499 and will ship in October. Like the other headsets, the device will use Microsoft’s hand controllers and it has built in AKG (now owned by Samsung through Harmon). The headset has dual 1440 x 1600 OLEDs – a bit higher resolution than the 1440 x 1440 of other headsets.

Unlike some of the other headsets built to work with Microsoft Mixed Reality, the headset doesn’t have a ‘flip up’ mode. Reviewers are mixed on whether this is a good or bad thing. The headset is listed at a price above that of other headsets and although the displays are a bit better, the difference is not huge.
