According to data from TMT Consulting, the value of the online video market in Russia grew by 50% last year to 7.2 billion rubles ($124 million). As reported by Broadband TV News, Ivi was the country’s leading OTT operator with a market share of 35%, followed by Okko with 17%, Amediateka with 15%, Megogo with 12%, Tvigle with 7% and Tvzavr with 6%. The remaining 8% was represented by operators outside the top six.
Okko and Megogo both saw significant growth to their revenues in 2017, while paid-for services generated more revenue than ad-supported platforms for the first time. Revenues from paid services increased by 88% compared to 2016, making 4.4 billion rubles ($76 million).
