Roku Adds Audio and Connect for TVs

Roku is developing by adding a voice assistant technology and is also offering a multiroom audio platform that it will license to other brands – the first of which is TCL which is expected to announce an audio product at CES. The development will enable a range of sound bars, smart speakers and other add-ons for smart TVs based on the Roku OS. Roku has developed hardware reference platforms for these devices.

Roku claims that 20% of TVs sold in the US in the first nine months of 2017 used the OS.

Roku Connect is a free software update that will allow users to connect wirelessly to Roku OS powered devices and other Roku Connect devices within a home entertainment network. Roku Connect devices will be identified by a Roku Connect logo.
